About Me
When I was little, my mom used to say I was a star. Of course she didn’t mean it in a pompous way, but whenever I stepped on stage, I would light up. My performance career started when I was three years old. My mom signed my sisters and me up for ballet classes, which started my love for dance. Although it is difficult to tell at such a young age what interests one will have, dance was the only thing I stuck with.
As I grew up and moved from Blair to Omaha, I continued to perform, whether that be in dance recitals, musicals, or show choir. It wasn’t until the end of my freshman year of college that I realized I wanted to pursue performance as a career. Performance is my passion, not only because I love being on stage, but because I want to share what I love with other people in hopes that it will revive some happy memories or inspire them to pursue what they love.
Artist Statement
Throughout my career, I have come to many conclusions as to the importance of the arts. One main conclusion is that everyone is ‘art-wired’; everyone has some capacity to make or understand art. Whether they understand it in the way that it was meant to be understood is debatable, they understand it nonetheless. Movies are a great example of this. There are many reasons movies and filmmaking remain a popular art form, and one of the most important reasons why is the release from real life it provides.
Nowadays, everything is fast and there is very little time to stop and catch your breath. The arts provide that break, that release. They give people a chance to sit and observe something outside of their lives, which often can be related back to their own lives in one way or another. When I am creating art, whether that be through dance, acting, or music, I like to keep that in mind.
